It looks as though Sam Raimi and the studio could not reach an agreement regarding the many things they were arguing about, so with that Spider-Man as we’ve known it for the past 3 films is gone. Sony says that they will reboot the franchise in 2012 with a new director and an all new cast. So you can pretty much disregard any information that you’ve seen posted on this site in the past as it’s all going to change from here on out.
So what do you guys think of this? Do you think a new cast/director will be able to replicate the success of the first 3 films?

success? lol the first 2 films were ok, but the 3rd one was pretty much a kick in the ass for true spiderman comic fans. im actually really glad they’re doing a reboot, maybe they’ll do a decent job this time.

I am bummed a bit. I have to wait longer and now spidey has to start over. On top of that no more Bruce Campbell showing up in the film. I think they should have completed it and worked things out. I will still probably check it out but I think the decision to not make it was a poor decision.

I definitly believe Sony should keep Sam Raimi and Maguire, because although as old as Maguire is, I still believe he can pull-off another Spider-Man film (along with the rest of the original cast). So I wish for Sony to keep Raimi & Maguire for Spidey 4. and if there should be a Spidey 5 & 6, then Sony could do as they wish with the cast.

No raimi and no maguire??? Bad move. Toby Maguire has made spiderman, seeing a new spidey just wont work for Spiderman 4. I for one won’t be interested in watching the movie as Im a big Maguire fan because of how well he plays Spidey. I love all 3 spiderman movies ad have been looking forward to the 4th but now what i have read about NO MAGUIRE im not interested. They gotta sort it out big time. Maguire has to be Spidey in the 4th movie, Im sure he wants to do it and if he has demands they should let it happen, spiderman wouldn’t be as good as it is if it wasn’t for that great actor.

It’s the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard. No way can spiderman survive without Tobey maguire. What are they gna do change spiderman as we know it, change the story line so he’ll get bit in elementary school instead of highschool.?!?! If ur goin for a younger Peter Parker how r u gna explain high school ?!? Makes no sense. I hope that we make enough noise for these idiots to change their minds and keep raimi and maguire

Ok, now that I know Maguire is out, I’m done. How can the movie makers constantly change things like this? You start to really enjoy a series or sequel of movies and then change it so you have no idea what’s going on and all along you thinking “I really wish they had told me the rest of the story before starting a new one”. My God, it’s like reading a book without the last few chapters. If I were Stan Lee, I would be pissed that they ruined my characters like that. I guess it’s not really about what we want (you know, the people that pay to watch the darn movies), it’s about what the jerks at Sony want.

Knowing that Raimi and McGuire out, not intersted seeing the movie anymore.Unfortunately that my DVD collction of the movie will stop at the 3rd sequel.

i just got finished watching all three of the movies tobey is the best guy for spiderman it crap to change the actor they could probly get through without the director but tobey is the spiderman franchise he made those movies whatthe were there losing millions by the changes even if the movie is amazing in the back of all true spiderman fans heads they will be like god i wish this movie had tobey mcguire in it should of worked it out

The reboot is a foolish idea, have Sony lost their minds or what? We want the continuation of Spider-Man.
More than that there is NO Spider-Man without Tobey Maguire, he is the best for this role. No one else.
It will be a completely different and worse film.

Toby should be in the 4th sequel, I would suggest Sony to make the 4th sequel a change - a turn over of power from Toby to the new Spidey - I know Sony could pull out something like that. They are powerful enough to make the 4th movie even better - as the famous saying of superheroes goes “With Great Powers Comes Great Responsibilities”. . . Sony as an entertainment giant has great responsibilities to fullfill to its consumers:)

Not happy at all. Just saw the preview for the Amazing Spiderman and not anxious to see it all all. Without Toby McGuire - forget it! Totally bummed about the change of cast. I was so excited about Spidey 4 but now just disappointed big time!!!
