Marc Webb to Direct Spider-Man 4

Spider-Man 4 News

According to deadline.com, Marc Webb is going to be officially announced as the new director of Spider-Man 4. You may know Marc Webb as the director of the movie (500) Days of Summer which I have heard good things about, but have yet to actually see. So there you have it, Spider-Man 4 is officially getting it’s feet off the ground after all the controversy in the past few weeks.

So what do you guys think of Marc Webb as the director? As I mentioned above I have not seen (500) Days of Summer so I’m not sure of his style, but critics seem to love the movie so I can’t imagine he’s the worst choice for the Spider-Man franchise.

Sucks! If you look at it from a salesmans pov:

On one hand you have a Director who has made a little noise recently directing a Rom-Com. On the other hand a Director with huge success relating to the entire franchise at hand…Who is also a Director with a previous proven track record of some 20 years in this genre, who has an extremely loyal fanbase to boot!

Hmmmm…I would say the action of picking the former Director over the latter connects with the action of said studio shooting itself in the ass and killing the franchise lol!

Sorry studio bosses, no Raimi, no custom from this movie fan for Spiderman 4 or whatever god awful name you give it. Sam Raimi shows passion for the subject matter beyond that of any other would be Director/writer for it. He was willing to continue making these films and so were the cast - but of course their fees would all have gone up. Much more cost efficient then to manufacture a disagreement with said Director and save yourselves some money. Then when the “re-boot” fails you can just move on to something else.

I wish they’d do the decent thing and give the rights to Marvel Studios then Raimi can go make more Spiderman movies with them grrrrr!

I think he’ll do a good job. But he should remember the fans! Spiderman without Kirsten Dunst and Toby Maguire is like Superman without Reeve and Kidder. I grew up with them as I did the Spiderman Cast. I know folks who took their kids to watch, and now their kids are grown, and so you have twice as many adults as kids in line to watch the new movie.
I think us fans are like the citizens of Metropolis and NY and we need a superhero director save our Cast. Gave us back Mary Jane (Kirsten) and Peter Parker(Toby)!
