Spider-Man 5 and 6 Have A Writer

That’s right, before we even have a full cast completely locked down for part 4, which is set for release on May 6, 2011, we have a writer for both Spider-Man 5 and 6. James Vanderbilt has been tapped to pen both scripts. Vanderbilt was also the guy that wrote the initial draft of the script for Spider-Man 4, but it was then re-written and edited a couple times by different writers. And unlike the previous Spider-Man movies it sounds like parts 5 and 6 will have interconnected storylines which may be kind of cool.

Sony Moving Forward With Venom Movie

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the folks over at Sony are starting to move forward with a Venom movie. After the success of The Dark Knight, they see an opening for a movie based on a villian. And with the Spider-Man movies hanging in limbo right now, this seems like a good movie. Actually, even if the Spider-Man movies weren’t on hold this sounds like a great idea! Venom has been one of my favorite comic book villians since as far back as I can remeber, and to see him get his own movie would be pretty cool. And get this, Topher Grace may not reprise the role that he brought to the big screen in Spider-Man 3. The studio isn’t sure if he can hold an entire movie on his own and lots of people are requesting the part, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

There was a draft of a script already written, but Sony apparently wanted to take the movie in a different direction and are now looking for someone else to pen a draft, so it could still be awhile until we see/hear anything new, but at least it sounds like they are moving forward and hopefully we’ll get to see a Venom movie in the near future.

Venom Getting His Own Movie?

I know it’s not technically Spider-Man 4 news but over at iesb.net they are reporting that Venom could be getting his own spin off feature. According to them, the studio has already starting looking for a writer and talked to a few people. I for one, would be ecstatic to see a feature length Venom movie after being disappointed with his limited role in Spider-Man 3. Now, do I think Topher Grace should continue playing Eddie Brock / Venom….. I’m not sure. I did like him in Spider-Man 3, I just always pictured Brock as a beefier guy. But we’ll see, the studio hopefully knows what they are doing.

Spider-Man 3 on DVD and Blu-Ray Today

Make sure you head on out the store to pick up Spider-Man 3 on either DVD or Blu-Ray today! There is also a Blu-Ray trilogy set which looks amazing, so if you have a Blu-Ray player I highly suggest picking up these movies. If you do not have a Blu-Ray player yet, head out and pick up the PS3, it’s the best player for the money and plus you get a video game console. Personally I don’t even own any PS3 games, but love the Blu-Ray player.
