Spider-Man 4 Gets A New Writer

Spider-Man 4 is now on it’s second writer. The first writer James Vanderbuilt, who wrote Zodiac, didn’t impress the studios with his take on what Spider-Man 4 should entail so Sony has hired David Lindsay-Abaire. Lindsay-Abaire is a pulitzer prize winner for his play “Rabbit Hole”. Not really sure how this is going to play out, he doesn’t seem to have much experience in the comic book genre, but he is obviously a good writer so hopefully we’ll get something interesting out of him.

Kirsten Dunst Might Be Returning For Spider-Man 4

Nothing is official yet, but apparently in an interview that Kirsten Dunst did with MTV she mentions that she’s “in” when asked about her involvement with Spider-Man 4. However, shortly after that she said that she’s not saying anything…. So basically nothing is official yet, but it sounds like she wants to do it if everything works out how she wants it to. This could mean that she’d be back for both Spider-Man 4 and 5 since they are going to be shot back to back, unless of course they kill Mary Jane off in Spidey 4, but we’ll just have to wait and see. If we hear anything official we will let you know.

Could it be true? Two more Spider-Man Movies coming?

And with both Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi! That’s the rumor. The Hollywood Reporter has come out and said that both Tobey and Sam are very close to a deal with Sony Pictures to create two more Spider-Man movies. The movies will hopefully start filming in 2009 and will be filmed back to back. Writer Jamie Vanderbuilt who penned the “Zodiac” screenplay has been tapped to write. And don’t worry, the Venom movie is still moving forward. Writer Jacob Estes wrote a draft of the script while recently Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were brought on to revise.

So we’ll see what happens. Hopefully they close these deals and we get to see some more Spidey action soon. With all of the Marvel Studios movies coming in 2010 and 2011, we could be seeing a ton of comic book movies in those 2 years. I just hope that they don’t all suck.

Spider-Man 4 Set Visit Auction for Charity

With Spider-Man 4, hopefully, getting ready to move forward, you can bid on your chance to visit the set. Although Spider-Man 4 doesn’t even have a script, director or actors attached to it, you can bet that it will get made and Sony will be sure it does. And what better way to donate to a great charity and get to goto the premiere, check out the set, meet the cast and be an extra on the movie! Check out the auction!

Sony Moving Forward With Venom Movie

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the folks over at Sony are starting to move forward with a Venom movie. After the success of The Dark Knight, they see an opening for a movie based on a villian. And with the Spider-Man movies hanging in limbo right now, this seems like a good movie. Actually, even if the Spider-Man movies weren’t on hold this sounds like a great idea! Venom has been one of my favorite comic book villians since as far back as I can remeber, and to see him get his own movie would be pretty cool. And get this, Topher Grace may not reprise the role that he brought to the big screen in Spider-Man 3. The studio isn’t sure if he can hold an entire movie on his own and lots of people are requesting the part, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

There was a draft of a script already written, but Sony apparently wanted to take the movie in a different direction and are now looking for someone else to pen a draft, so it could still be awhile until we see/hear anything new, but at least it sounds like they are moving forward and hopefully we’ll get to see a Venom movie in the near future.
